Recovery Coaching

As a recovery coach, I accompany you on your journey to liberation from alcohol.

Together, we build tools, rituals, and practices that allow you to grow a sustainable recovery. Without judgment or shame, 1:1 coaching provides accountability with radical compassion and permission for you to prioritize your sober journey.

In my own journey through recovery and letting go of alcohol, coaching is where I found traction and momentum on my path to sobriety. The support I received was immeasurable and led me to pursue coaching certifications through Tempest, iThirst, and Gray Area Drinking.

“Words that describe my experience of Anne Marie's coaching: compassionate, steady, gentle, truthful, encouraging, supportive, holistic, fun!

Working with Anne Marie was a powerful element in building an alcohol-free life. I desperately wanted this change in my life. I could see alcohol was not serving me, but I struggled to create change. With compassion and clarity, Anne Marie helped me in two key ways:

  1. We used a practical approach to build new habits, create simple daily practices, plan for challenging events and recover from them.

  2. She guided me to see the deeper patterns of using alcohol as my primary coping mechanism. These included a lack of boundaries, living for outward approval and rewards, prioritizing productivity, shame, and being out of touch with my core values, body, and joy.

Our time was a key enabler for creating the alcohol-free, full, whole-hearted way of life I relish. Even on challenging days, I hear Anne Marie's voice saying, "keep going, friend; you're doing it.”

FAQs

What is 1:1 recovery coaching?

1:1 recovery coaching is the opportunity to work with someone who has been where you are. Coaching is a space to set short and long term goals, have accountability, and space to process your journey.

What can I expect from my coach?

You can expect your coach (me!) to be fully present to your individual and unique story. As you are empowered to take actionable steps towards transformation, I offer radical compassion, encouragement, wisdom, resources, tools and strategies to keep meeting your goals.

Can I work with you if I am not sober yet?

Absolutely! There are lots of ways to build a recovery practice that can happen even when somebody is still drinking. Setting goals around cutting back on consumption or choosing sober days during the week are often places where people start.

How often do we meet?

1:1 recovery coaching works best when the coach and client meet weekly. This is important for consistent accountability, momentum, and gaining confidence in the sober journey. After several months of sustained sobriety some clients choose to meet biweekly.

How long do people usually work with a coach?

I work with most folks for a minimum of 6 months and have worked with some for 2 years. Sobriety and recovery evolve and ongoing support is often desired by the client.

What is your advice for somebody who is nervous about working with a coach?

I think the best advice I can offer is to come as you are. Know that it’s ok to show up nervous, excited, hopeful, or scared. Or all of those at the same time. Know that it’s ok to not know where to start. Know that you are so worthy of care. Coaching is a big deal! It’s a beautiful and courageous act of self-care and self-compassion.

I have more questions unanswered above, can we talk one on one?
